The core values of Bahiazul Resort are centered on the development of sustainable tourism in the Canary Islands. To achieve this, we implement environmentally friendly solutions.
Our goal is to minimize our resort’s impact on Fuerteventura by reducing unnecessary energy use, supporting green energy (thus reducing greenhouse gases), sourcing food from local suppliers, and encouraging our guests to also be responsible and contribute to the care of our planet.
What are we doing to be more eco-friendly?
Installing Solar Panels
In October, we installed solar panels on the roof of our restaurant, which produce 50,000 watts. Thanks to this, the restaurant is generating its own energy and is nearly 100% self-sufficient. Additionally, all the electricity consumed by Bahiazul is certified as renewable.
Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles
In the newly renovated villas, you can now charge electric cars in your villa parking spaces. We are also adding new electric vehicle charging stations in the main parking area of Bahiazul.
Electric Vehicles in the Resort
Our staff uses electric cars to escort you to your villa. Additionally, our maintenance team uses them to move around the resort, thereby reducing local pollution.
LED Lighting
At Bahiazul Resort, we are committed to using LED bulbs. They help conserve energy and reduce waste. Since LED bulbs last longer, we purchase fewer bulbs and don’t need to replace them as often. LEDs are 300% more energy-efficient than fluorescent lighting.
Waste Separation
We have been reducing and recycling waste for many years. Our waste hierarchy is: Refuse: prevent waste generation, Reduce: utilize raw materials efficiently and reduce waste, Reuse, and Recycle.
Using Eco-Friendly Cleaning and Laundry Products
We use eco-friendly cleaning products, made without harsh, non-biodegradable chemicals.
Organic, Local, and Fair-Trade Products Served at Restaurants
Bahiazul restaurant proudly offers a variety of foods and beverages with km0 ingredients, including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
We Encourage Our Guests to Be Responsible:
Use less water, reuse towels and bed linens, and limit energy use. Remember to respect the local environment and dispose of sanitary waste properly. Recycle and reduce waste.
