The Best Time for Wind Sports
Fuerteventura is an island of eternal spring, with the seasons divided into windy and non-windy periods.
From May until the end of August, the trade winds hit the island, allowing us to fully enjoy sports like Kitesurfing, Windsurfing, and Wing Foil!
The closest spot, Flag Beach, is just 4 km from Bahiazul. It’s a perfect location for riders of all levels. A bit further south, you can find Glass Beach, ideal for wave enthusiasts and great throughout the summer.
Sports Events at Bahiazul Fuerteventura Resort
This May, Bahiazul hosted a “KiteCamp” with the top two female kitesurfers in the world: Jalou Langeree (3-time kiteboarding world champion) and Catharina Edin (kiteboarding vice-world champion).
Participants of our camp enjoyed the crystal-clear waters of Fuerteventura and all the amenities Bahiazul offers. With spacious villas featuring patios and terraces, they are ideal for storing sports equipment. The convenience of parking close to the villa makes it easy to load and unload gear.

Windsurf World Cup
Fuerteventura hosts the Windsurf World Cup, which has been organized for 35 years! The Kiteboarding World Cup has also been held here since 2001, taking place in the summer (the windiest season). The event is held at “Playa Sotavento”, a 5 km long sandy beach on the southeast coast of Fuerteventura and the windiest beach on the island. This year, the event will take place from July 22 to August 6.
The Longest Wave in Europe
In early September, the trade winds end, marking the start of the surf season. Throughout the year, you can find sheltered spots with great waves, but it’s especially between September and December when the surf is most “glassy.”
The best surf spots are located in the north of Fuerteventura, all within a 20-minute drive from Bahiazul. You can also take a water taxi to the surf spot on Lobos Island, where you’ll find the longest right wave in Europe. Remember to go at sunrise to avoid the crowds!

Here you’ll find miles of white sandy beaches with crystal-clear turquoise waters. Grandes Playas de Corralejo is a place you definitely can’t miss. A large part of the beaches is located in the Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo (Dunes Natural Park), which is a spectacular natural area.
Which beach to choose?
Burro Beach, Playa del Moro, or Bajo Negro Beach are the best options for families and have lifeguard services. Flag Beach, the closest to Corralejo, is ideal for those who enjoy water sports such as kitesurfing or windsurfing.
2. Playa Vista Lobos
Playa Vista Lobos, also known as Popcorn Beach, is one of the most unique beaches in northern Fuerteventura. Instead of sand, it has white algae fossils that resemble real popcorn.
It’s just a 5-minute drive from Bahiazul, or a 30-minute walk. We suggest visiting at high tide for easier access to the water.
This beach is located in a small lagoon, so there are no currents, making it safe for children.
Please remember that the “popcorn” is protected. DO NOT take them home. Nature will thank you!
3. City Beach Waikiki
City Beach Waikiki is located close to the seafront of Corralejo. This bay is well-protected from the wind, waves, and currents, making it safe for children and beginner swimmers. Around Waikiki Beach, you will find many restaurants where you can enjoy beautiful views of Lobos while having lunch or a refreshing cocktail.

It’s also a great place for snorkeling to explore the underwater life.

What are we doing to be more eco-friendly?
Installing Solar Panels
In October, we installed solar panels on the roof of our restaurant, which produce 50,000 watts. Thanks to this, the restaurant is generating its own energy and is nearly 100% self-sufficient. Additionally, all the electricity consumed by Bahiazul is certified as renewable.
Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles
In the newly renovated villas, you can now charge electric cars in your villa parking spaces. We are also adding new electric vehicle charging stations in the main parking area of Bahiazul.
Electric Vehicles in the Resort
Our staff uses electric cars to escort you to your villa. Additionally, our maintenance team uses them to move around the resort, thereby reducing local pollution.
LED Lighting
At Bahiazul Resort, we are committed to using LED bulbs. They help conserve energy and reduce waste. Since LED bulbs last longer, we purchase fewer bulbs and don’t need to replace them as often. LEDs are 300% more energy-efficient than fluorescent lighting.
Waste Separation
We have been reducing and recycling waste for many years. Our waste hierarchy is: Refuse: prevent waste generation, Reduce: utilize raw materials efficiently and reduce waste, Reuse, and Recycle.
Using Eco-Friendly Cleaning and Laundry Products
We use eco-friendly cleaning products, made without harsh, non-biodegradable chemicals.

At Bahiazul, we have been constantly improving our customer experience throughout this year. Want to discover all the news and events we’ve had in 2022? Here’s everything you need to know:
1) Our new restaurant is finished!
The restaurant renovation went through several phases. Last year, we began by expanding the space and adding a chill-out area. This year, we completed it by adding show cooking and fully redesigning the interiors. The idea was to blend the interior design with the beauty of our island, incorporating sustainable materials like wood and stone.
2) Solar Panels
The restaurant wouldn’t be complete without the solar panels on its roof! The panels produce more than 50,000 watts. Thanks to them, the restaurant can generate its own energy and is nearly 100% autonomous. Additionally, all the electricity consumed by Bahiazul is certified as renewable.
3) SPORTS BAR
The third addition to the restaurant was the Sports Bar. It was inaugurated for the FIFA World Cup. Now that the World Cup is over (Congratulations Argentina!), we will continue to stream all your favorite sports there, where you can enjoy watching them with a pint or your favorite cocktail in hand.
4) Electric Car Charger
Bahiazul is advancing with technology and respecting the environment. Another step in this direction is our installation of electric car chargers. We aim to reduce pollution and encourage our guests to do the same!
5) Live Music
Whether you’re a music lover or just a casual listener, you’ll enjoy the live shows with our local musicians at Bahiazul. Acoustic music and the best voices await you to listen and enjoy.
6) New Villas
Following the style of our newly refurbished restaurant, we are also redesigning our villas. The first ones are available this year, and we plan to have more ready for next summer!
What has changed? The new villas have 2 bedrooms instead of 3, which means larger rooms. The interiors are designed in an elegant style: bigger bathrooms, natural color tones, beautiful wallpaper, and a 55” TV.
7) Barbecue
In addition to our popular themed dinners, we’ve introduced a new event – the Friday Barbecue! Enjoy show cooking with fresh fish and meat, mojitos, and a fantastic ambiance with DJ music to kick off the weekend!
8) Private Barbecue at the Villa and Takeaway
What could be better than having a private chef cook for you and your family or friends? Bahiazul makes it possible! You can book a chef to prepare a barbecue at your villa. On other days when you’re feeling lazy, use our new restaurant takeaway service!
9) Kite Camp
For the first time in Bahiazul’s history, we had the pleasure of hosting Jalou Langeree and Catharina Edin (2 Female Kitesurfing World Champions). They were the coaches for our first Kite Camp at Bahiazul. The girls took their kitesurfing to the next level and had a blast enjoying the Bahiazul facilities.

We launched our own app! With the Bahiazul LoungeUp, you can easily see what Bahiazul has to offer: check all the updated events, themed dinners, book a spa massage, view restaurant timetables, and more.
