The Best Time for Wind Sports

Fuerteventura is an island of eternal spring, with the seasons divided into windy and non-windy periods.

From May until the end of August, the trade winds hit the island, allowing us to fully enjoy sports like Kitesurfing, Windsurfing, and Wing Foil!

The closest spot, Flag Beach, is just 4 km from Bahiazul. It’s a perfect location for riders of all levels. A bit further south, you can find Glass Beach, ideal for wave enthusiasts and great throughout the summer.

Sports Events at Bahiazul Fuerteventura Resort

This May, Bahiazul hosted a “KiteCamp” with the top two female kitesurfers in the world: Jalou Langeree (3-time kiteboarding world champion) and Catharina Edin (kiteboarding vice-world champion).

Windsurf World Cup

Fuerteventura hosts the Windsurf World Cup, which has been organized for 35 years! The Kiteboarding World Cup has also been held here since 2001, taking place in the summer (the windiest season). The event is held at “Playa Sotavento”, a 5 km long sandy beach on the southeast coast of Fuerteventura and the windiest beach on the island. This year, the event will take place from July 22 to August 6.

The Longest Wave in Europe

In early September, the trade winds end, marking the start of the surf season. Throughout the year, you can find sheltered spots with great waves, but it’s especially between September and December when the surf is most “glassy.”

The best surf spots are located in the north of Fuerteventura, all within a 20-minute drive from Bahiazul. You can also take a water taxi to the surf spot on Lobos Island, where you’ll find the longest right wave in Europe. Remember to go at sunrise to avoid the crowds!

1. Grandes Playas de Corralejo

Here you’ll find miles of white sandy beaches with crystal-clear turquoise waters. Grandes Playas de Corralejo is a place you definitely can’t miss. A large part of the beaches is located in the Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo (Dunes Natural Park), which is a spectacular natural area.

Which beach to choose?

Burro Beach, Playa del Moro, or Bajo Negro Beach are the best options for families and have lifeguard services. Flag Beach, the closest to Corralejo, is ideal for those who enjoy water sports such as kitesurfing or windsurfing.

2. Playa Vista Lobos

Playa Vista Lobos, also known as Popcorn Beach, is one of the most unique beaches in northern Fuerteventura. Instead of sand, it has white algae fossils that resemble real popcorn.

It’s just a 5-minute drive from Bahiazul, or a 30-minute walk. We suggest visiting at high tide for easier access to the water.

This beach is located in a small lagoon, so there are no currents, making it safe for children.

Please remember that the “popcorn” is protected. DO NOT take them home. Nature will thank you!

3. City Beach Waikiki

City Beach Waikiki is located close to the seafront of Corralejo. This bay is well-protected from the wind, waves, and currents, making it safe for children and beginner swimmers. Around Waikiki Beach, you will find many restaurants where you can enjoy beautiful views of Lobos while having lunch or a refreshing cocktail.

4. Cotillo Piedra Playa

Piedra Playa, located in Cotillo, is a spot for water sports enthusiasts. Here you can try your hand at surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing.

You can also enjoy the island’s most beautiful sunset and breathtaking views!

If visiting with children, avoid swimming on days with large waves, as they can create currents. Lifeguards are only on duty during the summer months.

5. Cotillo Lagos

These are natural lagoons located around Cotillo.

To find them, drive along the coast from Cotillo town to the lighthouse. You will see several lagoons on your left. Choose the one you like best!

If you want a swim in calm waters without waves and enjoy an afternoon with your family, this is a perfect spot!

It’s also a great place for snorkeling to explore the underwater life.

How do I get to my favorite beach from Bahiazul?

To reach the beaches in Corralejo (such as Dunes, Vista Lobos, and Waikiki Beach), you can take a taxi. The fare is around €3.5 one way, and it’s about a 5-minute drive from Bahiazul.

If you plan to visit Cotillo and its beaches, we recommend renting a car.

Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles

In the newly renovated villas, you can now charge electric cars in your villa parking spaces. We are also adding new electric vehicle charging stations in the main parking area of Bahiazul.

Electric Vehicles in the Resort

Our staff uses electric cars to escort you to your villa. Additionally, our maintenance team uses them to move around the resort, thereby reducing local pollution.

LED Lighting

At Bahiazul Resort, we are committed to using LED bulbs. They help conserve energy and reduce waste. Since LED bulbs last longer, we purchase fewer bulbs and don’t need to replace them as often. LEDs are 300% more energy-efficient than fluorescent lighting.

Waste Separation

We have been reducing and recycling waste for many years. Our waste hierarchy is: Refuse: prevent waste generation, Reduce: utilize raw materials efficiently and reduce waste, Reuse, and Recycle.

We use eco-friendly cleaning products, made without harsh, non-biodegradable chemicals.

1) Il nostro nuovo ristorante è terminato!

La ristrutturazione del ristorante è passata attraverso diverse fasi. L’anno scorso, abbiamo iniziato ampliando lo spazio e aggiungendo una zona chill-out. Quest’anno l’abbiamo completato aggiungendo la cucina a vista e ridisegnando completamente gli interni. L’idea era di combinare il design degli interni con la bellezza della nostra isola e inserire materiali sostenibili come legno e pietra.

2) Pannelli solari

Il ristorante non sarebbe completo senza i pannelli solari sul tetto! I pannelli producono più di 50.000 watt. Grazie a loro, il ristorante può produrre la propria energia ed è quasi 100% autonomo. Inoltre, tutta l’elettricità consumata da Bahiazul è certificata come rinnovabile.

3) SPORTS BAR

La terza aggiunta al ristorante è stata lo Sports Bar. È stato inaugurato per la Coppa del Mondo FIFA. Ora che il Mondiale è finito (Congratulazioni Argentina!), continueremo a trasmettere tutti i tuoi sport preferiti lì, dove potrai guardarli con una birra o il tuo cocktail preferito.

4) Caricabatterie per auto elettriche

Bahiazul avanza con la tecnologia e rispetta l’ambiente. Un altro passo in questa direzione è l’installazione dei nostri caricabatterie per auto elettriche. Vogliamo ridurre l’inquinamento e incoraggiare i nostri ospiti a fare lo stesso!

5) Musica dal vivo

Che tu sia un appassionato di musica o solo un ascoltatore occasionale, apprezzerai gli spettacoli dal vivo con i nostri musicisti locali da Bahiazul. Musica acustica e le migliori voci ti aspettano per essere ascoltate e apprezzate.

6) Nuove ville

Seguendo lo stile del nostro ristorante recentemente ristrutturato, stiamo ridisegnando anche le nostre ville. Le prime sono disponibili quest’anno e ne abbiamo in programma altre per l’estate prossima!

Cosa è cambiato? Le nuove ville hanno 2 camere da letto invece di 3, il che significa stanze più grandi. Gli interni sono progettati in uno stile elegante: bagni più grandi, toni naturali, bellissimi wallpaper e TV da 55 pollici.

7) Barbecue

Oltre ai nostri cene a tema sempre molto popolari, abbiamo lanciato un nuovo evento: il barbecue del venerdì! Goditi la cucina a vista con pesce e carne fresca, mojitos e un’ottima atmosfera con musica DJ per iniziare il weekend!

8) Barbecue privato in villa e Takeaway

Cosa c’è di meglio che avere uno chef privato per te e la tua famiglia o amici? Bahiazul lo rende possibile! Puoi prenotare uno chef per preparare un barbecue nella tua villa. Nei giorni in cui non hai voglia di cucinare, utilizza il nostro nuovo servizio di takeaway!

9) Kite Camp

Per la prima volta nella storia di Bahiazul, abbiamo avuto il piacere di accogliere Jalou Langeree e Catharina Edin (2 campionesse del mondo di kitesurf). Sono state le allenatrici del nostro primo Kite Camp a Bahiazul. Le ragazze hanno portato il loro kitesurf a un livello superiore e hanno adorato godere delle strutture di Bahiazul.
